#mascaret (du gascon), phénomène de brusque surélévation de l’eau d’un fleuve ou d’un estuaire provoquée par l’onde de la marée montante contrariant le flux de la marée montante lors des grandes marées (pour les équinoxes). Ici, le mascaret de Turnagain Arm, Alaska, fait plus 2 mètres de haut et a une vitesse de 25 km/h lors des grandes marées de printemps.
